I just got back from a three day shabbaton. (I was going to write about it, but decided not to bore ya'll with the details. If you really want to know, you'll have to ask.)
We left early thursday morning, and didn't get back until late motzei shabbos. Which meant, no computer for 3 days. It was a little scary, I have to say. Plus, I checked it right before we left, for like two seconds, and then the whole trip I was thinking about all the emails I had to reply to, and the blog posts I wanted to write....Not very good.
On shabbos, I saw a computer at the house of the people that hosted us. I looked at it longingly, then berated myself, because it was shabbos, and I was thinking about computers.
At this point, I use the computer at the least...3 times a day, and most...5, and counting. Does anyone know of a good 'computers anonymous' I can join, to cure me of this ailment?
All of this inspired my next post...read on, and comment.
I know what you mean, that is why i put away my computer before shabbos. who wants to be reminded of something you can't have but really want to turn on.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to send me your computer you'll be cured. Harsh, but effective nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteIf you find a CA group, please let me know. Or maybe I need a Wifi-Anonymous group. Either one works.
ReplyDeleteTRS- no can do, i dont have my own computer, i share one with 40 girls, which actually might be helpful if u took it away.
ReplyDeleteAnd i use the one in the apple store, and the university, and i would give them to you, but i think it would be considered stealing on my part, and by you being my accomplice, you would be stealing too. Too bad.
SD- i dont believe such a group exists.
Maybe we can have a cyber meeting? ;-)
ReplyDeleteshould i even bother to answer that?
ReplyDeleteNever really had that problem. Can't use, can't use, big deal. Though when it's 30 minutes until shabbat ends, that's when I get the "is it over yet".
