As much anxiety you think that is, speak to any choson who ordered his kapota from yisrolik shemtov, and then you'll know the meaning of the word. He says that he purposely causes such anxiety, because "if hashem wanted there to be anxiety in this marriage, the heart problems caused by waiting for the kappota should take care of it".

If ur brothers kapota is still in existence, its not from shemtov. his kapotas disintegrate on contact with oxygen. He takes forever to make them, and then they fall apart. A friend of mine flew from toronto to CH for a 'fitting'. he got there and shemtov told him , sorry, i didnt get around to making it. come back in a week!

He sure is. More and more chasanim are stopping to use him because of his antics. besides for the fact that his stuff falls apart. My aunts bro's kapota was missing all the buttons and the seem by the shoulder had opened by the thrid sheva brachos!! His mother wanted to kill shemtov!!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about kapotas, and thank G-d will never have to, besides for maybe how to sew buttons on them, but what about Sacho? His flamboyant kapotas seem to be very popular. (If I could, I would get one with a bright orange lining.)
ReplyDeleteHes pretty good. Lives in T.O. Most guys that get from him get the 'mini skirt' style. He actually also makes yarmulkas. His red silk ones rock the house!

My father actually just got one made from a guy in LA. Names woody wilson, some big time dude, my pop asked him how much hed charge, the guy said 550! no one else does custom made for that price.
Do you have pictures of the gown? I would love to see. So excited

ReplyDeletethats for sure! the funniest part of the whole thing was that it was this guys first time making something like that. So when he was done, he snapped a pic. of my father in it. My pop had to go back for a touch up, and there was the pic of him, on the wall, together with other people he's made cloths for. the thing is, everyone else one the wall is a celebrity! And there, in the middle of all of them, is my father in a kapota!

Do kapotas need any specific things, like special threads or buttons, or it can just be whatever you want it to be?

Not really. The only thing needed is that you round off one of the corners on the split in the back. Otherwise it is a four cornered garment, and needs tzitzis. Besides for that, you can play around with it. For example, my father changed the style collar the kappota has, rearranged the buttons, etc.
