The sky's the limit

They used to say this, all the time. (Whoever 'they' are.) But it can't be true.

Maybe years ago, people would look up at the sky and think it so vast, so far away, so unreachable. Now, we barely need to tilt our head, and we see little lights blinking, flashing, airplanes flying, taking off and landing. We've reached the sky, long ago. So is that it? Is the sky really the limit?

In 1969, humans made it to the moon. We've learned about outer space, above and beyond our own little universe. The sky ceases to be important, when it is so easy to surpass it. And is that it? Or can we go further than the moon? Is there more out there that we haven't even discovered yet?

Is it possible that if we sent out a spaceship, they can go past the sky, past the moon, and keep going, until they reach that space we like to call heaven? Can they find the entrance, simply knock at the door, walk in and say, hi God, we found you!

Is the sky really the limit? Or is there so much more potential that we haven't even discovered yet?

  1. depends how you interpret it - the sky's the limit to me, means that the SKY which is endless is the limit - meaning we are limitless.. its supposed to be a cute play on words to give a deep and profound lesson.

  2. That's an interesting perspective. That's like G-d's blessing to Avraham, that his descendants will be as numerous as the sand and stars, meaning, just like you can't count the sand, that's how vast they will be.

Nice twist, I didn't think of that.

  3. I really like this post....it makes me reflect...

the sky is the limit...not so, because, beyond the first heaven of our atmosphere, and second heaven of the universe, and the third heaven of where there is angel's food, and the fourth heaven where the King's City, the Altar, and the Temple are, beyond the fifth heaven where the ministering angels worship in song by night, and the sixth heaven where G-d stores the elements, and even beyond the seventh heaven where the souls of the righteous, and the yet to be born are, there is G-d, ...and as Solomon said, "The heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain Him"-2 Chronicles 2:6..

and so we see beyond all of this there is the G-d in whom your forefathers trusted, and the G-d in whom all mankind is blessed through your people...
He is there, and He is beyond all limits...

    awesome :)

  4. Thanks Danny, that was vry insightful. It is awesme when you think about it, and of course reinstates our feelings of nothingness before Him.

  7. in a more materialistic context, there are spacecraft out there going as far as they can. right now there are a few out towards Neptune and Uranus

  10. Funny, otd.

Well according to Danny, He is beyond the 7th heaven. And according to you, He doesn't exist at all. So, who could be right?
