You tell me I can't do it.
And I laugh in your face.
Because I know I can.
And I will.
You tell me what my chances are.
And you couldn't be more wrong.
Cuz above all
I am strong.
You try to limit me.
Tell me what I can
and cannot do.
Well heres some news for you.
You are not G-d,
and you dont make the rules.
You don't make the plan.
And nothing is up to you.
You don't know what will be.
You dont know where I'll go
from here.
And where I'll end up.
You try to confine me
to certain jobs and and situations.
You tell me I have little options.
But it is funny really.
Absurd actually.
How well you think you know me.
And despite what your limited small minded brain thinks
I have many options.
Nothing you say will get me down.
In fact I should thank you.
Your honesty has caused me to distance myself
from people like you.
And the nonsense you spew.
I will be fine.
And you will be gone.
Cuz you are wrong.
I hope you learn that.
One day I'll laugh.
And that day is today.
Cuz it takes people like you
to make me realize
just how strong I really am.
And to trust myself
above all.
This is incredibly powerful and heartfelt. It also can apply to many situations and antagonists (even discouraging inner voices) - thus its universality is particularly poignant and impactful.

I have to echo Shades comment. Really well done, and incredible that you have that kind of strength. Not everyone does. Its very hard to stand up to societal pressures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments. It may not be hard to stand up to pressures but in certain situations you have no other option and the only person you can rely on is yourself. And so you rise to the challenge.
