Is it worth it?

Is a memory worth $1500? Is it worth anything?

Is a picture worth a thousand words? Is it worth $1500?

How can you ask me how important it is to me? What would you do if you lost everything? Would you try your hardest, pay any price to retrieve it, to fix it?

You tell me- how can you put a price on a memory?

  1. Im guessing thats how much it'll cost to restore ur hard drive?

personally, i wouldnt. I dont take many pictures and things, as I have the memories in my mind even without them. Thats just me. If it is something that important to you, then its probably worth it.

  2. That's the thing. It is important to me but I don't really want to pay that much money at least not right now. I don't know. It's something I have to think about. How worth it is it? I don't want to have to put a price on it.

  3. that's why I have things backed up in 4 places, I just wouldn't be able to afford it and those things are really important to me...having said that, it really has to be up to you. Does it make a difference how much of the files you get back? Can you find a cheaper place? That's so annoying :(

  4. If that is 'where' all your memories are, I would say do it.

For the future, look into carbonite.com. it is an online storage / backup system, 129$ for 3 years. Using it, u can access ur pics / files from any cpu, and even android, blackberry, or iphone.

  5. I'm seriously considering doing it, I just hope to find a better price.

What if online stuff gets lost of breaks down or malfunctions? I'd feel better having a physical storage device to store my stuff on as a backup. Although look what good that did me with my hard drive. But maybe I'll do what mushkie does and back it up 4 times.

  6. Carbonite is pretty much the number 1 online storage thing.

On the contrary. Physical hard drives have a pretty big tendency to crash. little things, like not securely disconnected from the cpu, could in a fluke occurrence wipe out all ur memory. It happened once to my music library. I myself didnt have it backed up, but had recently given it to a friend, so copied it from him.

Regarding price, realize that each hard drive can cost 75$. so with 4 backups, u run up the same bill as the carbonite.
